The Landscaping Designer is part of a travelling team that supports Medxcel at the working location of St. Vincent Neighborhood Hospital - Indianapolis, IN. This team will travel to various Medxcel Facilities sites to design, develop and implement landscaping operations start-up; train landscaping teams; and design and complete special landscaping projects.  Position may occasionally supervise 3 – 5 associates, possibly more seasonal associates as needed, and may be called upon to provide specific horticultural information to assist Leaders throughout the organization.  The position must be able to operate a variety of equipment and has a working knowledge of horticultural practices, woody and perennial plants cultural requirements and pest management. The position must also understand all of the basic maintenance requirements of Medxcel Facilities hardscape elements including an understanding of irrigation principles.

Qualifications

Education:

  • An associate’s degree in Horticulture, Maintenance, Business or related field required 
  • A bachelor’s degree in related field preferred

License/Certification:

  • State Driver’s License and insurable with company’s agent required
  • Pesticide certification required
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred

Experience (Minimum):

  • At least 5 year’s experience in landscaping required
  • At least 3 years supervisory experience required
  • Previous project management and project supervision required

Competencies: 

  • Ability to travel, by airplane and by automobile to facilities across the country to complete specific projects
  • 50% travel required
  • Ability to operate a truck and trailer combination proficiently
  • Strong oral communication skills, job planning skills, and mechanical aptitude are a must
  • Strong knowledge of standard horticultural practices including paver, pond, low-voltage lighting and irrigation troubleshooting
