The Director provides the highest level of leadership for an assigned group of on-site Facility Managers.  In this exciting and fast-paced role you will hold accountability for a 111-bed, 196,000 sf facility in Manhattan, KS.  This a high-visibility, high-profile position with the Medxcel Facilities Management organization! 


The Director serves as the connection between the assigned site teams and the overall Medxcel Facilities Management team. The position holds primary responsibility for assuring that customers recognize the role of Medxcel Facilities Management in the performance of their on-site team. The Director also is responsible for holding the on-site teams accountable for meeting standards, achieving technical service delivery excellence, meeting financial objectives, attaining high customer satisfaction and loyalty, and meeting Medxcel Facilities’ mission in general.

Regional Service Management  

  • Lead service operations at multiple or single site in an assigned geographic region.
  • Hold full accountability for achieving service excellence, financial goals, regulatory compliance, and organizational development goals.
  • Create a high performing team of on-site leaders through selecting and retaining the best individuals possible and appropriately holding this team accountable for their areas of responsibility.
  • Assist on-site leadership achieve consistent high performance through the development and execution of controls designed to assist in developing the on-site leadership to better meet their service delivery objectives and create high customer satisfaction.
  • Perform in-depth quality reviews of site operations, using the tools provided by Medxcel Facilities, and establish on-going plans, goals, and objectives, to correct deficiencies and improve performance.
  • Oversee the establishment and approval of annual operating and capital budgets and monitor ongoing financial performance against those budgets among assigned facilities.
  • Oversee the establishment and approval of training, staffing, and resource plans and monitor performance relative to such plans.

Customer Relationship Management  

  • Assist and support on-site leadership with identifying and implementing cost reduction opportunities.
  • Conduct periodic business reviews with customers.
  • Assist onsite management with ensuring the customer’s program understanding, customer satisfaction, strategic partnering, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Develop and nurture key customer relationships to create customer create a high degree of loyalty to Medxcel Facilities in addition to local operations.
  • Be visible and available to key customer leadership during frequent site visits.

Coaching and Development  

  • Lead a team of onsite leaders across a geographic region with an emphasis on developing existing and future talent, mentoring and inspiring performance, and enabling on-site leaders to succeed.

Innovation and Strategy  

  • Work effectively with Medxcel Facilities executives and other leaders to drive business innovation, service strategies, revenue growth, and continuous improvement processes at the regional level to ensure service excellence.
  • Lead corporate wide and regional strategic initiatives as assigned.
  • Leverage local and regional professional society involvement as a means of promoting and representing Medxcel Facilities within regions or local communities through pre-defined branding and service initiatives.


Education/Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or management required (or equivalent experience).
  • MBA and graduate degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 – 15 years’ experience working in a healthcare facilities management or field management in healthcare facilities outsourcing.
  • Three years’ experience in a large, multi-campus healthcare system preferred.
  • Experience in developing service programs required.
  • Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM) certification.
  • Project management skills including coordination, communication, prioritization, troubleshooting, adherence to budget and completion goals, and recruiting resources.
  • Travel - 25% to 50%, mostly local. 


  • Strategic leadership skills and business acumen to execute initiatives and objectives.
  • Problem solving—the individual identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gather and analyze information skillfully.
  • Planning/organizing—the individual prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate across all levels of the organization, including technology, tools, and processes.
  • Experience and proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of hospital operations and hierarchy of leadership.
  • Working knowledge of medical facility systems and equipment.
