The Human Resources Advisor will provide technical support and guidance to the HR Operations Specialists of Medxcel Facilities Management while serving as a consultant to management and associates on Human Resource related issues in partnership with Human Resource Business Partners.  This position is assigned to the working location of Medxcel Facilities Management Central Office - Indianapolis, IN. The Human Resources Advisor maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business units’ financial position, its mid-range plans, its culture and its competition.  Role will be responsible for the collaboration in design and implementation of key HR processes, manage expectations of multiple stakeholders, and ensure reliability of HRIS inputs. Position will have high visibility to senior levels of the organization through both internal and external communications.  The Human Resources Advisor, in partnership with key stakeholders, will design new workflows, implement policy, manage projects, manage vendor relationships, and partner with the organization’s parent, Ascension.


HR Operations Support:

  • Provide consultative support and coaching to people managers in the areas of employee relations, organizational structure, succession planning, employee engagement, performance management, policy application, policy interpretation, and workforce planning
  • Provide consultative support and coaching to associates in effective working relationships, human resource programs, employee relations and policy interpretation
  • In partnership with HRBP’s, implement HR objectives aligned with business needs across the organization
  • Provide employee relations support through consultation with associates and managers to facilitate resolutions of concerns, investigate incidents as appropriate, recommend solutions to concerns, ensure consistent application of applicable policies and business practices and maintain supporting documentation as appropriate.  This may also include facilitating communication with external investigation agencies or representing the business at unemployment hearings
  • Facilitate Performance Appraisal Cycle including goal development, performance feedback, performance evaluation, introductory performance evaluation and development of individual strategies to promote effective performance
  • Educate and refer associates to the HR Operations resources to best resolve general questions regarding benefits, payroll or HR systems
  • Maintain working knowledge of internal HR processes, systems and resources to best support individual, team or business unit with human resources needs
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and people managers to identify candidates, interview and on-board new associates and partner with key stakeholders to address any compensation issues such as offer questions or equity issues
  • Provide education and clarification to new leaders by facilitating a succinct new leader orientation that encompasses: policies, intranet, timekeeping, payroll, associate transactions, etc.
  • Facilitate annual merit review and promotion cycle.
  • Participate in evaluation and monitoring of success of training programs.  Follow-up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • In partnership with HRBP’s, lead the onboarding of new sites and facilities into the Medxcel portfolio by educating incoming associates and leaders of the policies and procedures through in person meetings covering several topics: benefits, timeekeeping, payroll, policies, and procedures; and collaborating with HR Operations to make sure that incoming associates are entered in the appropriate systems correctly.
  • In partnership with HRBP’s, lead the off-boarding of associates when necessary, either through a reduction in force or the dissolution of a service that is not in the Medxcel scope of work.

Human Resources Technical Support:

  • Provide support to HR Operations Specialists to include:  training, technical guidance, professional development and assistance in drafting associate communications.  Provide support to HR Operations Specialists to complete their key responsibilities including: orientation, background checks, compiling data, reporting, escalation of issues, drug screens, HRIS input, new hire packets, candidate communications and benefits administration. Benefit programs include: group health, flex spending accounts, health spending accounts, dental, vision, life insurance, COBRA, 403(b) and wellness.
  • In partnership with key stakeholders, lead the design and rollout of enrollment processes for benefit programs. 
  • In partnership with key stakeholders, create and implement new employee workflows, policies, and procedures related to benefits and open enrollment administration.
  • As organization continues to grow, forecast and recommend resource improvements and efficiencies required to accomplish HR Operations Specialists responsibilities.

Special Projects:

  • Provide field initiative support and backup to Human Resource Business Partners.
  • Lead initiatives to identify, plan and implement key business improvements that incorporate necessary governance, processes, measurements, communication and reporting to sustain efforts as it relates to HR systems and processes.
  • Partner with business leaders to incorporate industry best practices and ensure integrated processes are built.
  • Special projects as required:  New associate orientation, title and pay banding, talent assessments, succession planning, leadership development, vendor identification, new system upgrades, modules and implementations, etc...
  • Partner with other departments and outside vendors as required.
  • Oversee issue resolution.
  • Ability to travel overnight as needed (approximately 20%).

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or a related field required.


  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive Human Resource experience required, with specific background in benefits, onboarding, and employee relations disciplines required.


  • Experience and success working in a matrix reporting environment.
  • Capacity to mentor members of HR team, provide technical guidance, lead teams, lead projects. 
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of administrative processes, HR terminology and processes required.
  • Expert proficiency of Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required.
  • HRMS experience preferred.
  • Ability to set priorities and manage time amidst multiple tasks.
  • Ability to communicate with others at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work comfortably with higher management.
