The Facilities HVAC Technician I will perform duties for Medxcel Facilities Management throughout the assigned working location of St. Vincent Hospital - Indianapolis, IN.  The Facilities HVAC Technician I installs, operates and maintains the organization’s heating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The Facilities HVAC Technician I is responsible for identifying repair and/or replacement needs, then completing installations and repairs. This position also conducts preventative maintenance and upgrades for HVAC systems and equipment. The Facilities HVAC Technician I assists associates within and outside of their trade.


Maintaining HVAC systems:

  • Installs, inspects, maintains, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on all heating, air conditioning, ice making, refrigeration, and ventilation systems.
  • Maintains and applies current knowledge of steam distribution, piping, valves, chilled and hot water reheat systems and Pressure Reducing Value (PRV) operation.
  • Inspects HVAC systems and their components (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance.
  • Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Maintains knowledge of departmental equipment procedures for power outages.
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
  • informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations.
  • Maintains vehicle, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition.
  • May coordinate, maintain and repair all energy management systems.

Special Projects:

  • Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
  • Assists with special projects as assigned 



  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Graduate of Trade School OR 3 years of journeyman HVAC Technician preferred.


  • Universal EPA Refrigerant Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.


  • At least three years of HVAC experience preferred.
