Landscaping Equipment Maintenance Mechanic

The Medxcel landscaping division continues to expand! Opportunities are available for full-time, permanent, year-round work. 

As a Landscaping Technician II, you will provide a variety of landscape activities on behalf of Medxcel throughout the assigned working location of St. Vincent Hospital - Indianapolis, IN. In this role, you will be the go to person, responsible for maintaining the corporate landscaping equipment to minimize downtime of the crew. Ongoing activities will also include: planting, weeding, digging, spreading topsoil and other materials, general lawn maintenance, and seasonal lawn preparation. The Landscaping Technician II leads training for new associates and serves as a Subject Matter expert to facilities stakeholders.

General Landscaping and Equipment Maintenance:

• Oversees team members and performs planting and related activities
• Perform maintenance on landscaping equipment including Bobcat, Skid Steer, diesel trucks, and more
• Maintains assigned equipment and notifies Landscaping Supervisor of needed repairs
• Perorms routine lawn maintenance including grass cutting, lawn edging, weed pulling, and other routine lawn-maintenance activities. Uses lawn mower and related equipment
• Provides seasonal lawn care, such as spring and fall clean-up
• Moves materials and equipment and performs related duties to assist in landscaping and hardscaping
• Digs holes and trenches and excavates for landscaping and hardscaping using picks and shovels or related equipment
• Hauls or spreads topsoil, gravel, sand, mulch, or related materials using wheelbarrows and rakes
• Hand-finishes grade, and apply seed, straw, or sod
• Responds politely to customer inquiries and projects a professional image
• Loads equipment and materials on and off trucks and trailers
• Assist Facilities Maintenance staff on preventive maintenance, work orders, painting and other maintenance projects as assigned

Chemical Treatments:

• Applies chemicals under the direction of a licensed chemical applicator

Education:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid State Driver’s License and insurable with company’s agent preferred

Experience:

• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in landscaping or horticultural work required
• Previous experience in a health care setting preferred

Competencies:

• Ability to train new associates and educate them on processes, systems and equipment
• Have a working knowledge of standard horticultural practices
• Must be able to read and write in English language
• Reports to work at the required time and performs duties as assigned by the Landscaping leader and local Facilities Leader
• Ability to operate a truck and trailer combination proficiently
