The Regional Director, Emergency Management, Environmnet of Care, and Safety is a professional position for the Environment of Care (EC) Program and Emergency Management/EC/Safety Committees for healthcare facilities. As a member of the management team, this position will exercise responsibility and accountability for coordinating, collecting, disseminating, and intervening in a manner that anticipates, prevents, and identifies, evaluates, and controls hazards, as well as assisting during activation of a facility Incident Command Team. The Regional Director, Emergency Management, EC, and Safety maintains continuous survey readiness through compliance with regulations from a number of regulatory agencies, including The Joint Commission (TJC), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and identified industry best management practices (BMP). This is accomplished through direct supervision of System Safety, Environment of Care, and Emergency Management Managers and Managers assigned to the Regional Safety Manager in the Region(s).
Through regular meetings, education, and surveys this position will initiate direct contact with the Vice President, Emergency Management, EC, and Safety, Regional Directors of Emergency Management, EC, and Safety, and System and Facility Safety, EC, and Emergency Management, Regional Facility Directors, Facilities Managers, and Associates.
This is a role in which the person serves regularly in a highly visible capacity: experience, skills, demeanor, and ability to handle difficult and sometimes stressful circumstances are a clear expectation. In addition, the position will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the Environment of Care Program, which includes safety and security management, fire safety, hazardous materials and waste management, medical equipment, utilities management, emergency management, and environmental stewardship. This position leads the Environment of Care team for the health care facilities located within the region or regions as defined above.
