    The Facilities Plumber III will perform the plumbing responsibilities for Medxcel throughout the assigned working location of St. Vincent's East - Birmingham, AL. The responsibilities will include: installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution and waste water disposal in the facility.  The Facilities Plumber III works in cooperation with other trades and laborers to ensure that all specifications, legislation and policies are met, and to ensure efficient completion of any project. Providing adequate services will ensure that all water supply networks and waste and drainage systems are installed, repaired and maintained to meet all standards of building codes and safety.  The Facilities Plumber III leads training for new associates and serves as a Subject Matter Expert to facilities stakeholders.  The Facilities Plumber III also leads larger scale projects as assigned.

    Responsibilities

    Install, repair and maintain plumbing systems and components:

    • Diagnoses cause of problems and/or failures in water systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs
    • Installs, maintains and repairs domestic water pumps, water piping lines, water filters and plumbing fixtures
    • Repairs and maintains steam stations, valves, heating and condensation return stations and sewer and storm drains
    • Tests fire system valves, tamper switches, fire pumps and dry deluge fire systems
    • Maintains the piping and supply of cylinder and bulk medical gas systems
    • Prepares the preventative maintenance schedule and produces monthly reports
    • Develops procedures and conducts preventative maintenance and service inspections of backflow devices and cross-connection control awareness
    • Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns
    • Identifies and recommends long-term needs and strategies for plumbing systems and components, resulting in cost savings
    • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
    • Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations
    • Maintains vehicle, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition
    • May serve as a dedicated service tech, providing electrical services to facilities/buildings within a defined region, requiring travel to multiple sites to perform service and billings functions
    • May coordinate, maintain and repair all energy management systems

    Qualifications

    Education: 

    • High School diploma or GED required
    • Graduate of Plumbing Trade School required
    • Journeyman Plumber License or equivalent certification/license required

    Experience:

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a plumber required
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in project/construction management required
    • Valid driver’s license required
